Dr. Annie Christianus (Ph.D. Aquatic Biology)
Graduated from UPM in 2002 with a Ph.D. (Aquatic Biology) where she is currently a lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She specializes in fish reproduction (broodstock selection and management), larval rearing, hatchery management and hormone analysis. At present, she is working on a three years IRPA (Intensified Research Priority Area) project on horseshoe crab in Malaysia.
Dr. Siti Shapor Siraj
She received her bachelor of science from University of Malaya, her master of science from Auburn University (USA) and doctorate from Ehime University (Japan) and joined UPM upon graduation. She has served the University since 1979 as a tutor at Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, in 1996 she moved to Faculty of Science and currently is attached to Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, UPM. Her research interest is focused on genetics and breeding of freshwater fish, prawn and marine shrimp. Work on genome mapping to develop DNA microsatellite markers of Mystus nemurus to detect location of economical traits in the genome and also potential use in molecular assisted selection for breeding program has lead her to patent the technique.
Dr. Zuridah Merican (PhD Aquaculture Nutrition)
Is the Editor/Publisher for the AquaCulture Asia Pacific Magazine since September 2004. Prior to this, she was editor of Asian Aquaculture and International Aquafeed Magazine, UK. She obtained her Ph.D. in shrimp nutrition from the National University of Singapore and M.Sc. aquaculture from Stirling University, Scotland. She was with the Malaysian Fisheries Department from 1977-1995.
Mr. Perumal Kuppan BSc (Environment)
Born in Teluk Intan, Perak in 1958, joined UPM as Laboratory Technician in 1978. He has been mentored by Prof Law Ah Theem, Prof Fatimah Md. Yusoff and Dr. Philllip Arumungam for almost 30 years and is now an expert in various aspects of water quality and aquatic ecology. Perumal has been involved in several consultancy projects under the guidance of his mentors. In 1994 Perumal was attached for 3 months at the aquaculture production centre affiliated to Kinki University in Japan where he studies plankton culture. In 1998 he took study leave to complete his BSc in environmental sciences at UPM and graduated in 2001. Currently Perumal is a Science Officer at the Marine Science Laboratory in the Institute of Bioscience, UPM.
Tuan Haji Mohari b. Mohd Tamin

Prof. Dr. Fatimah Md. Yusoff
Current director of Institute of Bioscience in UPM, Prof Fatimah graduated from Drew University USA with BSc in Zoology and MSc and PhD majoring in limnology from Michigan University, USA. She joined UPM in 1980 and was promoted to professor in 2000. She teaches Liminology, Aquatic Ecology, & Aquatic Environmental Management, Water Quality Management. She has won several medals for excellence in research focused on phytoplankton and zooplankton ecology/ diversity, improvement of shrimp health, mass production of microalgae and improvement of water quality through bioremediation.
Mr. Lee Yew Jin
Graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.Sc. in Fisheries Management. His broad range of technical experience include fisheries resource survey, bio-monitoring, marine habitat mapping with hydroacoustics and habitat rehabilitation & conservation with a special interest in designing artificial reefs for sea ranching purposes. He is currently the principal consultant at AdTech Management, a firm co-owned with his wife, Wah Sze a coral ecologist.
Dr. Hassan B. Hj. Mohd. Daud
Currently Associate Professor, Aquatic Animal Health Unit, Department of Veterinary Clinical Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM. He is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Universiti Pertanian Malaysia) and also has a MSc (University of Stirling, Scotland) and Ph.D from Kingston Polytechnic, England. His areas of interest is fish viral and bacterial diseases and development of alternative feed additives such as probiotic to improve fish health and growth performance.
Mr. Yip Kam Toh (MSc, Fisheries Bioogy)
was born on 2nd Feb 1958 and graduated from NTU in 1983 where he majored in Fisheries Biology. He has been the project manager in big scale shrimp projects in the Philippines and Indonesia. Currently he is the Assistant Vice President of Asia Aquaculture Sdn Bhd.
Mr. Lim Soom Mong
Graduated from Laurentian University with B.A major in EconomicS in 1985. His involvement in aquaculture began in 1986 when he was hatchery supervisor with Lion-LKIM Aquafarms Sdn.Bhd. Two years later he established his own company, King's Aquaculture Products, supplying various aquaculture products to government, university and the private sector.
Mr. Ng Chee Kiat, B. Sc. (Fisheries), MS (Aquaculture) (Managing Director, Inter Sea Fishery (M) Sdn Bhd)
Born in 1961, and obtained both his BSc. (1985) and MS (1995) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has 15 years of experience in aquaculture and aquaculture feed operations, planning and design, sales and marketing and management of aquaculture projects and aquaculture feed plants. He became a full member of the MFS in 1994, and has since served as the treasurer or a council member several times.
