Objective :
At the end of the course, the student would understand :
  • pathogenesis of important diseases
  • disease diagnosis techniques
  • concepts and principles of disease control
Synopsis :
This course covers the pathogenesis of important diseases caused by parasites, bacteria, fungi, virus and other agents.  Students will also be exposed to techniques in diagnosis and control of diseases in domestic animals

2 Sedimentation technique/faecal culture
3 Collection and preservation of ectoparasites and endoparasite
4-5 Blood parasite diagnostic techniques and examination of mites
6-7 Gram positive bacteria identification technique
8-9 Gram negative bacteria identification technique
10 Fungi identification technique
 11-14 Virus identification technique
 
Evaluation :

       Continuous assessment      :  60%
       (Theory and practical)
       Final exam                         :  40%
       Total                                 :  100%
 

Attendance :
An attendance of a minimum of 80% of the lectures and practical is required for eligibility to sit for the final semester examination
