Synopsis : |
-
This course includes sections
on anaesthesia, general principles of veterinary surgery and radiology).
-
The anaesthesiology
section emphasises the importance of pre-anaesthetic, anaesthetic, and
post-anaesthetic periods. Its aim is to introduce to the students
various types of anaesthesia, routes of administration, types of
equipments, procedures for specific cases and procedures during
emergencies and intensive care.
-
The teaching of general
veterinary surgery uses laparotomy in canine and ruminant as an example
procedure for surgical training. Surgical procedures and their
indications to treat diseases or conditions requiring surgical
intervention on small and large animals will be introduced in this
course and continued in VPK 3202 Veterinary Surgery II. Clinical
signs, diagnosis, surgical treatment and post-surgical care of each case
will be discussed.
-
The radiology section
deals with principles of radiography, radiation safety, techniques of
taking radiographs and processing X-ray films and reading the
radiographic films).
